Police Public Information Manager

Catherine Plevy

As the Police Public Information Manager, Cathy Plevy plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.  With a passion for transparent communication and a commitment to building strong relationships, Ms. Plevy is dedicated to keeping the public informed and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

In her role as the Police Public Information Manager, Ms. Plevy is responsible for

  • Media Relations: Managing and cultivating relationships with media outlets to ensure accurate and timely reporting on police activities.
  • Public Communication: Developing and implementing communication strategies to keep the community informed about important matters, initiatives and events.
  • Crisis Management: Serving as a key point of contact during critical incidents, providing the public with clear and concise information to maintain trust and transparency.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitating outreach programs, community events, and partnerships to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and residents.

About Cathy Plevy:

Ms. Plevy began her career with the City of Takoma Park in March 2007.  Prior to working for the City of Takoma Park, Ms. Plevy had a myriad of careers, to include:

  • Department of Defense – US Army
  • Family Law Paralegal
  • Private Judaic School Teacher
  • Maryland State Police – Homicide/Cold Cases, Missing/Unidentified Persons

Ms. Plevy earned her Masters of Science Degree from Boston University in Behavioral and Social Sciences with a minor in Criminal Justice.  She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in Behavioral and Social Sciences with a minor in Criminal Justice.

Ms. Plevy is currently a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for children. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court and other settings.

Ms. Plevy has four adult children and three fur-children.
