Command Staff - Captain Codi Evans
Codi Evans was sworn in as Police Captain with the City of Takoma Park on December 5, 2022. He previously worked for the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, where he retired as a Patrol Commander. Evans began his career with the Park Police in 1999. Throughout his career with the Park Police, he served in both the Montgomery and Prince George’s County Divisions of the Park Police serving in various positions, including patrol officer, police activities league (PAL) officer, field training officer, K9 handler/officer, patrol sergeant, K9 supervisor, K9 trainer, patrol commander, field training and evaluation program manager, and community services manager.
Evans is a certified K9 trainer, MPTC instructor, Krav Maga self-defense instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and ASP and OC instructor. Evans has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career both internally and externally, including the chief’s commendation, numerous commander’s awards, teamwork awards, and certificates of recognition, and was recognized by the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office for apprehending an armed violent offender. Evans is a certified alcohol enforcement specialist. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Maryland Chiefs of Police (MCPA).
Evans holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, with a minor in speech from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Master of Science in Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He is also a graduate of the Greater Chesapeake Law Enforcement Executive Development School.
