All City government buildings -- including the Community Center, Library, Recreation Center, Computer Learning Center and Heffner Center - will be closed and activities will be canceled on Tuesday, Feb. 9th. Please check the Notice Board or call the Inclement Weather Line at 301-891-7101 x 5605 for updates regarding activities on Wednesday, February 10th. Due to the conditions of City streets, the use of the sanitation crews for second shift plow truck driving, and the forecast of significant additional snow beginning on Tuesday, the City has canceled Tuesday trash and recycling collections. This collection will be provided next week. The Takoma Park Police Department will remain open as always.

NEW! Poets/Visual Artists Collaborative Show Opens

The Arts and Humanities Commission is pleased to announce “This Is Our Body", an exhibition of thematically linked multi-media works, and Takoma Park’s third collaboration between poets and visual artists since since 2007. The show opens with a public reception on Feb. 19th, at 6PM and runs until March 29th in the Community Center Atrium Gallery.

WSSC Water Main work to close Sligo Creek Parkway

WSSC will close Sligo Creek Parkway from Maple Ave. to Kennebec starting Monday, Dec. 14 until late March of 2010 to repair water mains. Motorists are advised to use Flower Avenue as an alternate route.
Linden Avenue construction launched Dec. 15

The replacement of the retaining wall and installation of a stormwater management system at the dead end of Linden Avenue will begin on December 15, 2009. The project is anticipated to take 6 months until completion. More information is available HERE.
