New Year’s Day: City of Takoma Park offices and facilities will close on Friday, December 31, through Sunday, January 2, 2022, for the New Year’s holiday.
- The New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on Friday, December 31, 2021, and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, December 30, 2021.
The Takoma Park Police Department is open 24/7 for emergency services.

Monster Bash Street Closures/Bus Detours
Walking is encouraged due to limited parking. In order to hold the event and ensure patron safety, we anticipate the following road blockages:
The roadway of Piney Branch Rd. (Rt. 320) will be closed to the north and southbound traffic between Ray Dr. and Philadelphia Ave. (Rt 410) during the parade.
Philadelphia Ave. will be closed to east and west-bound traffic and all adjacent roadways between Maple Ave. and Piney Branch Rd. during the parade.
Rolling road closures will be at the following intersections from 1:30 PM- 4:00 PM:
- Piney Branch R. and Ray Dr.
- Grant Ave. and Chestnut Ave.
- Holly Ave. and Grant Ave.
- Chestnut Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
- Holly Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
- Birch Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
- Cedar Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
- Old Philadelphia Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
- Maple Ave. and Philadelphia Ave.
Detour signs will be posted and Police will be directing traffic at the main intersections.
We are expecting to re-open the streets by 6:00 PM.
Ride-On and Metrobus Information
Ride-On and Metrobus services will be interrupted on the aforementioned streets from 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
No Parking Areas
No parking signs will be placed at both parking lots and partially down Grant Ave. during the event.

Here are the highlights:
- On August 23 all City facilities will reopen to the general public
- All staff and visitors must wear a mask covering nose and mouth inside City facilities at all times
Passport services are closed through Tuesday. Passport services will reopen Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Community Center. For a list of alternate sites visit https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/
Montgomery County Community Use of Public Facilities (CUPF) has announced a delayed opening tomorrow, Saturday Jan 18. Due to the delayed opening and the probability of closure for the day, tomorrow’s Winter Basketball League games are canceled. They will be made up at a later date.
New Year’s Day: City of Takoma Park offices and facilities will be open until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31 for the New Year’s Eve holiday. The City of Takoma Park offices, facilities, Library, and Computer Center will be closed on Wednesday, January 1 for the New Year’s Day holiday.
The Takoma Park Police Department is open 24/7 for emergency services.
Passport Services at the Takoma Park Community Center will be unavailable the week of December 30th.

All Takoma Par Recreation Dept Childcare Program are now closed today, Monday. December 16, due to Montgomery County Public School’s closure.
As always, the Takoma Park Police Department is available for emergency services 24/7.
City offices and facilities will be closed Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
